After you download
Run the installer
Open EverSafeSetup.exe and follow the prompts. Windows will ask for administrator permission because EverSafe installs a background service.
Sign in
Use the email address and password from when you chose your plan. On a new PC that replaces an old one, say so when asked.
Set your encryption password
Choose it carefully and keep it safe. We can't reset it, and you'll need it to restore on another computer.
Let it run
Your first backup starts. You can check progress and change which folders are included in the app.
System requirements
- Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit (x64)
- 4 GB of RAM or more
- About 450 MB of disk space for the app, plus room for its local backup index
- Administrator rights to install
- An internet connection (a faster upload speed means a quicker first backup)
Installation questions
Will Windows or my antivirus warn me?
The installer and the app are digitally signed by EverLabs Software Ltd, so Windows can confirm where they came from. If you see a prompt, check that the publisher shows as EverLabs Software Ltd before you continue.
Why does it need administrator rights?
EverSafe runs as a Windows service so it can back up in the background and copy files that are open in other programs (using Volume Shadow Copy). Installing a service needs administrator permission.
Can I install it on more than one computer?
Yes. Install it on each computer and sign in with the same account. Personal covers 3 computers, Pro covers 5, and Business and above have no limit.
Will it slow my computer down?
The first backup is the busiest, because EverSafe reads and uploads everything you've selected. After that it only processes files that have changed, so it has much less to do.
How do updates work?
EverSafe updates itself. Updates are digitally signed, and if a new version doesn't start properly it rolls back to the previous one.
How do I uninstall it?
Go to Settings, Apps, Installed apps, find EverSafe and choose Uninstall. This removes the app but leaves your backups in the cloud untouched. To delete your backups, delete your account from your online account's Settings page.
